Overview
The Ellawren Pixie Hedgehog is a small mammal-like creature resembling that of an ordinary hedgehog that has spent enough time around the magics of Pannotia to cause a variety of odd mutations to come from it. Specifically within Ellawren, this particular creature is found with plants growing upon its back resembling that of a small terrarium garden that changes depending on the season. Many have been taken by the creature itself, which has soon found its way into many households as pets and natural bug repellents in elegant gardens in Ellawren.
History
Within the lands of Ellawren where magic is used plenty and in the deep forests where Fae and Nephi stay, was where these small creatures were originally found. The Ellawren Pixie Hedgehog, scientifically known as the Pixus Erinaceus, is an enigmatic creature, whose origin remains shrouded in mystery.. There is speculation amongst locals such a creature was once a normal hedgehog that had found its way to interacting with Fey beings. Such a being littered with flora and vines that made its home near a Nephi colony eventually.
This creature is typically found to be omnivores in nature, eating small bugs, fruits, small snakes, and even some bird eggs that find themselves on the grounds where they make their homes. While normal hedgehogs are nocturnal in nature, the Pixie Hedgehog is strictly awake during the day and sleeps and hides away in the evening. Oddly enough, they seem to almost be fearful of being out at night but that is assumed to be from possible nocturnal predators that they cannot see.
Eventually, such a creature was found to be harmless by the peace-seeking Venyra, quickly finding its way to being domesticated, and soon regarded as a household pet with ease. The Nephi took to helping protect the creature and in turn, it became a frequent companion of such Elves. Soon enough, the creature was seen as an exotic pet for Venyra as well after an introduction to it via wandering Nephi who kept them as pets and traversed to the capital of Wrenn.
Anatomy
The Ellawren Pixie Hedgehog is known for its small size along with grass like quills sitting atop its back. The creature itself is about the size of a hand at most to ten inches in length, along with being about five inches tall when standing on its four legs. Its natural colouring is a soft brown like appearance with green like grass quills sitting atop its back. Depending on the month, various flowers will grow upon its back starting with buds on its back before blooming as the seasons change to warmer months.
In truth, it has a variety of appearances it can take on but it typically depends on where the Pixie Hedgehog is born and raised. Such a thing affects what sort of flora grows upon its back but will still resemble the same floral aesthetic depending on the region. From beautiful miniature rose bushes upon their backs to green grass like quills with the occasional white lily bulb on small vines across its back.
