Overview

The Fey Floatshark is what can only be described as a miniature whale shark that can seemingly survive both out of the water and in the water. How it came to be able to do such is a mystery, at least to those in Pannotia, while in reality a lot of it can be explained by its connection to the Fey. Seemingly being a creature that had migrated from one realm to another, soon enough the Fey Floatshark made its home in the oceans and various waterways. Being that of a miniature whale shark, naturally, many were wary of such a creature when it began to make its abilities known by being able to traverse outside of water. Although, it is a marvel to all on how it can do such but many tend to believe it is imbued with magic itself from the Fey allowing it to do such mystical things. Soon enough, the small aquatic creature began making its way into the hearts of fishermen and navy folk alike.

History

Naturally, the history of such a creature was originally a mystery before it came to light by the Nephi on how the Fey Floatshark was originally found. Such an aquatic being was originally found making its way through a river oddly enough shortly after the Equilibrium. Originally being mistaken for some sort of mutated salmon, it was soon found out that the strange creature could launch itself out of the river to scour the nearby areas for small creatures such as insects and small game to thrive off of in this new world they found themselves in. While initially scaring the Nephi that found them, they were soon found out to be rather harmless to such sentient races, being extremely clever creatures. The Floatshark had followed the poor Nephi all the way back to the Druid Circle where they had made their home and confused all the others who had made the area home upon seeing a floating miniature whale shark.

Nevertheless, the creature was a mystery to even them on how it was able to do such, but was found to be harmless in the fact it couldn’t float too far off the ground. Not to mention the fact that it seemingly preferred lounging in various pools of water when given the option to do so as it made its home in the various small towns of Ellawren. However, this was not the only incident of the creature making its friendliness known and curiosity leading it to follow others. Another situation of a Fey Floatshark making itself known was at a port city in one of the various human based kingdoms, terrifying a poor fisherman who was just prepping to go out for the morning to fish. The aquatic animal had accidentally launched itself up into the net the man had thrown out to get ready for the day and to untangle it and ended up, unfortunately, catching the Floatshark instead.

While mass confusion seemed to follow the initial meeting of the Fey creature, it was soon found to be quite harmless in the following years, and even more clever than some seem to realise. The Floatshark takes to lurking around folks that interest it to some degree even, domesticating it took many many years, and is still seemingly careful in its consideration of who it bonds with. Either way, the Fey Floatshark is still a mystery to this very day

Physical Appearance

The best way to describe the Fey Floatshark is it being that of a minature whale shark, a foot and a half in length and ten inches tall that can live in water but also can seemingly produce water around its body to fly around up to seven feet in height and produces a water bubble around it to be able to survive while it flies. Although, further investigation into the creature has caused it to disperse the common misconception of an actual water bubble being around it but it being able to absorb a generous amount of water around the gills of the Fey Floatshark to be able to survive on land for a generous amount of time before returning to the water to gather more water. How it is able to do so is still a major mystery to zoologists to the current day, while many have tried to get close to observe further, the Fey Floatshark seemingly manages to avoid such somehow.

It seems to naturally bond with others of its species, leaving it to be deemed as a sociable creature despite its pickiness in bonding with people themselves. However, there have been several cases of the creatures choosing to live with people and have been domesticated to some degree. The Fey Floatshark seemingly lays eggs in groups of two to three and while no one is entirely sure of the conditions needed to hatch them, the Floatshark themselves handle it entirely without intervention from others. They also seemingly live rather generous long lives from twenty to thirty years, although that has been what has been observed of wild Fey Floatsharks. In domesticated conditions, it seems the aquatic creature is able to live double such a life span, although no one is entirely sure why.

Overview

  • While initially immensely friendly, they do have a tendency to nibble on people and other creatures as a way of exploring or understanding the world at large. Or at least that’s what people say.
  • The Fey Floatshark seemingly only comes in appearances similar to regular Whale Sharks which is a mystery despite attempts of getting other shark like appearances in controlled scenarios.

Trivia

  • The oldest known Fey Floatshark is one nicknamed Tooth that works with a naval group in Ellawren, such a creature being nearly forty years old.
  • The teeth of the Fey Floatsharks are frequently sought after, being said to be a good luck charm for anyone going out on long voyages across large bodies of water.
