Language is an important tool in communication; be it spoken, written, or signed. Naturally, as kingdoms and cultures rise and fall, the dominant languages of an area change with the winds of time. Though some have withstood centuries, and others born anew just recently, each one has its place in the world.

Below is the current list of languages spoken in Pannotia.

“Name” explains the name of the language, whether it be the most commonly used one or the one natural to its tongue.

An “Indicator” is how you make use of language in roleplay. You would place the correlating indicator in front of your characters’ speech. An example is below.

“[Prov] Wow, what a nice day it is today! Isn’t the weather amazing?” This shows the character is speaking Provignais.

The “Origin” explains where the language was originally spoken.

“Spoken By” explains which races typically use this language, or whether it is specifically a racial language.

Trivia

  • Eirdrük has influences from many other languages, including Dwarven.
  • Although the Nephi and Thalzar have developed their own dialects of Elven, it all originates from the same language; leading to a loose understanding throughout them.
  • Infernal physically cannot be spoken by any other race.
  • Marítigal is known as Keldwinian to outsiders.
  • Provignais is known far and wide, stretching its influence even to Ellawren and beyond.
  • Each language has its own variant of sign language. An example indicator of Common sign language would be [C-SL].
  • Though Dwarven is the widely accepted name for language within the Dwarven Empire, it is not all-encompassing. The Dwarves actually have quite a few dialects, though few recognizable to outsiders.
  • Nymphean has sign language strongly incorporated into its language, able to be spoken entirely through it; thus not having a sign language equivalent of its own.
