General Server Info

Does the Gears of Galudon minecraft roleplay server do voice chat RP?

  • No, we only roleplay on the minecraft server itself over text. We cannot moderate voice chat rp which is why we do not do it here, also to be accommodating to players who do not wish to voice chat or voice act.

Is Gears of Galudon an SMP?

  • We are not, we are a text-based minecraft java roleplay server and roleplay over text.

What version is Gears of Galudon on?

  • We are on 1.19.2 Java and plan to update to 1.20.2 in the future!

Is Gears of Galudon a modded server?

  • Mods are not required but, we heavily recommend using Optifine due to our texturepack utilizing the connected textures in Optifine, but a lot of players use minimaps, More Player Models, and Figura! You can find our recommended Optifine in whitelist-information, we also recommend looking at player-guides-and-tools and recommended-mods for helpful resources.

Where do I get age verified?

  • Check Server-verification for all relevant information regarding this process. You can click the role listed for verification to confirm who to contact.

If you are making a report about a staff member, we advise you to send a DM to an admin. Remember to link your patreon account in-game to your minecraft account using /linkpatreon [Patreon Email]. Nitro Boosters at the moment do not equal a Patreon rank and will not offer in-game benefits.

How does in-game money work for businesses?

  • There are two forms of money with businesses. There is ‘funny money’ and in-game money. In-game money is the actual money you have in game, which you can check with /money and pay people with /pay. You should use this money for physical item purchases such as actual in-game food, for example: bread, slimefun food, etc. While ‘funny money’ is simply when you emote handing someone money, and they emote handing you something in return without any actual item being handed over. There is also progression currency that is exclusive to the progression system which you can find more about in the systems section of the FAQ.

Technology

Why is the resource pack not working?

  • We have found that you need to sometimes extract the folder for it to show up in-game. Make sure you have placed the resource pack in the resource pack folder. Keep the .zip, .rar, or folder together and do not take out the contents to put in the resource pack folder.

  • We have all of our roles organized in the get-roles channel, make sure you grab all of the roles you would like to be pinged for. Typically people at minimum grab a role for pronouns, location and DM choices. We do advise if you want to be notified of when there is rp so you know when to log online to grab the server events role and looking for RP role. Please read the pinned comment in roleplay-events for recommendations on how/when to ping certain things. There are additionally other roles such as Cursed, academics, politics, etc which will opt you in to be pinged about events or important information related to those communities.

Can I advertise my commissions on Galudon/Where do I look for commissions?

  • You can use art-services to both advertise your commissions and inform people you are looking for commissions. We advise not spamming this chat and using the relevant threads under commission advertisements to ask questions. DO NOT post NSFW commissions in this chat, use nsfw-art-posting for that. Additionally we have a zero toleration policy for AI art.

Character Creation

Do I need a character application to roleplay?

  • It entirely depends on the type of character and the roleplay you plan to engage in! If your character is either a Cursed character or a Mage then we require you having a posted character application before you can roleplay, with the stipulations that you do not mention your character being a Mage or Cursed nor use any of their powers/magic until the character application is approved.
  • Further stipulations apply to all characters regardless of Curse or Magic status:
    • Your character may not engage in any combat roleplay until their character application is approved, though an exception may be made if everyone present is made aware of the lack of approved character application and agrees to do roleplay-only combat (as in, no rolling nor skills being used.)
    • Your character may not participate in any sort of progression or system, be it world, magnate, military, crime or otherwise, until their character application is approved.
    • Your character may not use specific skills, such as Medicine/Alchemy healing skills, until their character application is approved. Though they may still roleplay as a healer, and fix flavored wounds, they may not restore HP.
  • With all of this in mind, if your character is not a Mage or a Cursed and you adhere to the above stipulations, you do not need an approved, or even posted character application to join casual roleplay.

How do talent points work?

  • You get eight points you can invest into talents which can provide bonuses in ability totals; as well, some talents provide points in other talents as described under their individual tiers. First spend your eight points on talents such as gardening or melee combat, once you do that you can begin calculating your ability totals. Keep in mind one (1) point in a subcategory equals one point in the corresponding ability total, then two points in a subcategory adds three points in the ability total and three points invested entails five points to your ability total; with an exception of Mystic, which provides five Mystic Stat at Tier 1, nine at Tier 2, and fourteen at Tier 3, as well as Cursed, which is always a three point investment and always provides twenty in the Curse stat. We have a points tutorial but also have a points calculator made by JadexTheRed that can be helpful for visualizing, make a copy of the points calculator to use it and discuss with your character app reviewer specifically regarding further questions as part of the review process is making sure you understand the points, or use roleplay-discussion where a lot of players would love to assist.

How can I get custom magic/cursed kits or other fancy stuff?

  • We have Special Permissions you can apply for, all pertinent information for applying and requirements are found on this page. Please keep in mind the activity requirements, behavior requirements and the notes on how long you should wait after joining the server to apply. For Tier 2 and above please read the note about group engagement. The types of special permissions you can find are:
    • Tier 0 : Rental Region Decoration by Staff.
    • Tier 1 : Backstory Attachments, Foreign Notoriety, and Special Building Rentals.
    • Tier 2 : Custom Magic Grimoires, Character “Level Ups”, Character Virtuoso, and Criminal Gang Bases.
    • Tier 3 : Enhanced Cursed Being, Folk Hero, Outlander and Luminarch.

Where can I find information about Magic?

  • We have a Mystic page you can reference.

Where can I find information about Curses?

  • We have our Curses page you can reference.

Can I have two magic investments?

  • Not yet, currently you can only have one. We recommend looking at the spells and aesthetics of the two or more you are split between and see which one you believe you would use more. You can later down the line pursue a Custom Grimoire however which will allow you to have unique magic tailored to your preferences within reason, feel free to learn more about Special Permissions on their page.

Can I be both Cursed and have magic?

  • It depends on the curse, double check the rules as each curse has different guidelines for using magic or things to keep in mind. Especially Lycans/Werewolves and Liches. Be sure to check the individual pages, if they do not mention a restriction on magic, then you likely can utilize it as a cursed character.

Do I have to invest 3 points for a Curse?

  • Yes, at the moment there is no Tier 1 or Tier 2 for Curses, this is due to the current payoffs and trade offs of being a Cursed character. You will not be able to have another talent at Tier 3 while Cursed unless you have a Virtuoso permission which you can learn more about below.

How do I register as a cursed character?

  • The Mayor handles all registration and you can look at the Logistics Sheet under the “State & Royal Overview” tab with the State Officials to see who the current Mayor is, or if you can’t find it ask in roleplay-discussion. The registry can be found here. The laws surrounding registration can be found here. There is also a list of steps on how registration works you can find here.

Can I have two talent investments at Tier 3?

  • No, unless you have a Virtuoso permission that grants you the ability to reallocate points to two Tier 3’s, Virtuoso does not give you extra points for your Tier 3.

Systems (Military, Invention, Crime, Prog)

How can I get involved with politics?

  • We have a government page to reference, but you can participate in politics either as a magnate or a citizen. All you need is to either A) join a political party or B) make one! You can find the current parties either in roleplay-groups or on the logistics sheet under Parliamentary Records.
    • Currently the government consists of a Parliament specifically for passing laws though there is also the Constitutional Congress being worked on which approves amendments for the constitution. You may wish to join a magnate group or political party in order to start.

What is a Magnate?

  • A Magnate or Governor are individuals or families who govern land on either Galudon's mainland or Arlingcord. They can acquire more land in the map through a variety of things all listed here. We advise players to consider carefully before applying to be a Magnate as it entails more responsibility, conflict IC, politics and risk! It is not for the more casual roleplayer but we have designed our systems for those who wish to participate to do so and still have a life outside of our server if they desire!
    • Affluents are those in lore who have wealth and fame without the political responsibilities attached. The Affluent role provides an option for individuals who wish to participate in the Progression System and benefit from progression-related wealth, without the additional responsibilities of political involvement or territorial management. Think of them as wealthy individuals who have a manor and send out orders. This is the inbetween of a citizen/non-magnate and a magnate. They also do not have any evaluations for activity in regards to acquiring territories and instead are considered financial entities.

How can I get involved with the military?

  • We have our own War System on Galudon specifically for those interested in this route. To get involved you can find and reach out to the Lord Warden, Grand Admiral, Field Marshal or one of the Admirals or Generals to get involved. You can either reference the logistics sheet or inquire in roleplay-discussion about who is currently in these roles. Characters who would hit their stride in the military are those with points in warfare, navigation, combat, and wayfarer alongside other talent investments. You can join the military as an Admiral with Tier 2 Navigation or as a General with Tier 2 Warfare, both of which are under Scrutiny.

I want to play a scientist or inventor? How can I make my creations come to life?

  • Through the Innovation System you can submit inventions. These are not open all the time and instead open applications periodically throughout the year to prevent backlog and build up of innovations. You can invent things using either gardening, smithing, engineering, medicine/alchemy, arcane knowledge, or Tier 3 Spellbinder talent points. This system is not for small one off inventions as those can be done without, but instead for larger creations that will be published on the Wiki, patented and able to be mass produced. If your innovation passes the system, you can showcase it at The World Technology fair that is an in-game event hosted after the current batch of Innovations is looked through. Please double check any rules before submitting your innovation.

How can I get involved with crime?

  • There are several ways for your character to commit crime! The first of which being to simply arrange it yourself. You are more than welcome to pickpocket and rob people on a player basis without DM intervention, or kidnap and ransom people, anything you can think of really; however anything you acquire from these acts cannot be used in the Crime System itself, which brings us to the second!
    • The Crime System is a DMed system set in place to help supplement player roleplay. You can use it to organize heists, robberies, sell things to the fence in exchange for Spintriae which can be exchanged for other goods, interact with the current storyline and flash points, or anything else you can think of! Details about the Crime System can be found on its page! Though do note in order to be involved with the Crime System you will need to make a ticket registering your gang, which requires at least one other person to be part of it! For any additional questions on the Crime System, we encourage you to open a ticket!

How do I join the Copperguard?

  • The Copperguard is made up of the general Copperguard but also a myriad of departments that you can specifically apply for. If you wish to join a specific department, check copperguard-departments and look at the individual threads for their application process. If you would rather join the wider Copperguard over a department, check the logistics sheet, under State & Royal Overview, to see who the current Lord Commissioner is and reach out to them in DMs either via a letter or oocly. If you do not know which player plays the character you need to contact, feel free to inquire in roleplay-discussion as to who you need to contact. We have additional information about the Copperguard that can be found here.

Starting RP

How do I host events?

  • Anyone can host events, we recommend posting your event 1-2 weeks in advance to ensure players see it and can come. Please post your event in the discord both in roleplay-events and officially in the events calendar at the top of the chat list. Try to host at different times from other events and avoid hosting at the same time as similar events, if there is, for example, a crime event at the timeslot you are interested in, feel free to post a magnate event as both cater to different players. We have a guide to event spaces you can use for events here, though you can always host in a park or your own rent if you’d like! There is a guide for pinging for events found pinned in roleplay-events, please reference that before advertising.
    • You can also make a ticket to request decoration for an event but we heavily advise looking at the event venue guide before making a ticket.

Does Galudon have holidays?

Slimefun

How do I get a grappling hook?

  • You can craft these through slimefun which is our in-game resource plugin. You can get a slimefun guide using /slimefun guide. For a grappling hook you need iron dust, carbon and iron. You can acquire iron dust by getting sifted ore by using a goldpan on gravel in a resource pit and then washing it in an ore washer, since the ore crusher is disabled. For carbon this can be acquired by putting diamonds in a slimefun grindstone since the compressor is disabled. Reference the slimefun guide found in player-guides-and-tools for further help with slimefun.

This list will be periodically updated as time goes on.
