Salkvia has been prevalent in Venyran and Galudonian cultures for centuries. Commonly used for small medicinal purposes, with its thin orangish appearance, it sticks out like a sore thumb in lush forests across the continent. Traditionally used in medicinal practice, however early on after the discovery. Local tribes had recognized the power of the Salkvia, not only in the use of medicinal use but also in spiritual use. These local tribes experimented with the substance, crushing and turning it into a moistened salve after leaving it to bake in the sun for some hours. The native tribes discovered the hallucinogenic effects of the substance, achieving what they called a state of ‘spiritual enlightenment’. The recreational use of this substance is prohibited in many provinces, however, it is not uncommon to see someone offering the salve in a small bottle off a dark corner.
History
The precise origin of Salkvia is properly unknown and still defies anthropologists and alchemists alike. There is the assumption the plant is indigenous to the region, and has dwelled in the landscape long before the rise of civilization, and grew with many of the races as they began to congregate into small tribes. However, the earliest dated notice of this plant's use was in the Ellevea Venyran tribe, who spoke of the plant's usage to achieve states of spiritual enlightenment. Scholars have come to believe even before this tribe's usage, the plant was largely used to treat things such as headaches, toothaches, and light pain across the body. Including but not limited to muscle strains, sprains, and minor cuts.
It is documented that as society began to rise and formulate, and the presence of law and order, city ordinance directors began to take a look at what they viewed to be a powerful substance. There was a recognition of the growing use of Salkvia as a recreational product, as opposed to its use as medicine. It was around this time, the use of Salkvia began to become a demonized substance largely. In favor of other alchemical substances such as Birchbalm, largely the sale of Salkvia was banned for some time, across Ellawren and Galudon. The substance grew an image for poisoning youthful minds, and that is where it largely remained for quite some time.
However, in recent decades, Salkvia has remained unforgettable. Many amateur botanists fancy themselves with cultivating the plant, as well as locating it within the wild given its common availability. Decades after the long ban on the substance, it has begun to return to societies across the continent, with legality being passed to allow for the use of the substance in medicinal application. This is where Salkvia lies in the modern day, largely untouched aside from botanists and Doctors, however. In recent years, as the legal restrictions have been repealed, a slow appetite for the substance returns to the black markets of major cities, desperate to get their hands on the euphoric hallucinogenic.
Appearance
The anatomy of Salkvia is quite distinct. A long orange leafy plant, almost nearly confused for the common fern. The distinct orange coloration is the only distinguishment, along with the rigid patterns of burrs on the leaves. Salkvia, in part, has two major players within the anatomy. The root, and the leaf. It has been discovered that in large part, these two processes function very differently. The effects of pain relief are derived from the root of the plant, where the majority of the nutrients are processed via photosynthesis.
However, there is a staunch difference. Tribes discovered that separating the leaf from the plant's root causes a specific chemical reaction to occur, which thereby creates the psychedelic effects, from the light burs on the leaf of the plant. When ground up, strong vivid psychedelic hallucinations are experienced by whatever animal or human that were to consume it.
Uses and Capabilities
Salkvia’s legality is largely ambiguous in legality within Galudon, while in places such as Ellerwren, the substance remains entirely illegal to sell, and may only be used by doctors in specific applications.
It is said that Salkvia is a largely nonaddictive substance, the euphoria so intense from the psychedelic and opioid properties that it drains your brain of serotonin. Often leaving users with a lingering sense of exhaustion after a psychedelic trip. Salkvia has long been a subject that Anthropologists seek out, curious if the existence of such coaligns with the rise of Venyran religion.

- Salkvia is a common plant found in the wild, animals such as the Common Ellewrenian Fox are prone to eating the burs and ripping the plant from the ground. Causing them to often stare toward the sky and hallucinate.
- Salkvia was technically discovered by Doctor A’el’estral Kwah’kih, at least scientifically. He is credited with the proper discovery of the sub-uses of Salkvia, which are light relaxation when boiled and made into a tea or drink.
