Aurumvitae
Throughout the annals of folklore and whispered legends, among the tales of night terrors and mythical beasts, one ominous narrative stands tall, a chilling warning whispered across generations–Aurumvitae. Whispered as a curse though to those of Fey origins, those with the Aurumvitae curse are chosen beings. Its origins, shrouded in enigma, linger within the tendrils of Fey lore and cautionary tales. Unlike the overtly known afflictions like Lycanthropy or Vampirism, the Aurumvitae curse ensnares those who inadvertently invoke the ire of these elusive beings at least these are the popular stories told to the public. Classified into unique strains or 'Taint Lines' such as Phantomize, Mischivra, Shardance, and Revelance, each variant manifests distinct abilities and traits, symbolic of the taint’s high fey. They are feared and shunned by society similarly to vampires though they are treated as members of the fey race, ones blessed by the fey lords.
Abilities and Powers
The Aurumvitae's abilities are classified into two distinct categories: Passive Abilities and Taint Abilities. Passive Abilities are inherent to all individuals afflicted by Aurumvitae, accessible only during their Aurumvitae transformation. Meanwhile, Taint Abilities represent the unique powers attributed to each specific Taint Line, shaping the abilities available to a bearer during their Feyshift transformation.
Passive Abilities
Passive Abilities are abilities and powers that are available to all Aurumvitae, regardless of what their taint is. They are accessible for use provided the Aurumvitae is currently in their Feyshift Transformation. The only exceptions to this rule are the Extended Lifespan and Increased Scrutiny, which are passively active even when the Aurumvitae is in its unshifted form.
- Extended Lifespan: Those cursed with Aurumvitae experience an elongated existence, surpassing the expected lifespan of their respective races without achieving immortality.
- Increased Scrutiny: +2 to their overall Scrutiny Attribute
- Fey Essence Perception: The cursed can perceive subtle fluctuations in Fey essence within a 10-block radius, enabling the detection of those connected to fey, including other Aurumvitae or potent enchantments. This can be toggled on or off by the Aurum to allow other Aurums to sense them or not.
- Lord Ritual: An Aurumvitae has the knowledge of a ritual to call upon their Fey Lord to commune or send a message to Fey Lord via Discord Ticket though a response is not always guaranteed.
- Malevolent Influence: While in Aurumvitae transformation, the individual can induce subtle manipulations of the world and magic, causing mild disturbances or amplifications within a 10 block radius to enchantments and technology. Such as causing them to do something not in their design, falter temporarily, or some other minor inconvenience. They can also cause the latter in people.
- Feyshift Transformation: Those afflicted by Aurumvitae undergo a transformation known as Feyshift, assuming a fey-touched form influenced by the specific nature of their curse and brought about by such as well. The Taint Line of the curse dictates the particular manifestation of their Feyshift within them and the resonating essence of the Fey Lord they are linked to. This persists for one to two hours with the latter as the maximum.
- Involuntary Transformation: Aurumvitae will be forced to transform under the following conditions:
- Solar Eclipse: They will be transformed when a Solar Eclipse occurs as fey energy strengthens its hold on our world for easy passage of the entities. Staff shall issue an announcement when one occurs.
- Fey Energy: Those cursed by Aurumvitae are incredibly sensitive to the energy of the Fey Realm with the faintest amount of the magic causing them to transform. This will be announced on Discord.
- Gladewalker Magic: During their conception, the Aurumvitae was brought about by Macabre Sam sprouting the seed within a Gladewalker to slowly convert the grove to his dominion. As a result, when an Aurumvitae is in emote range of a Gladewalker casting a Crown of Thorns, the feyshift shall be invoked.
Taint Abilities
In the essence of the Aurumvitae curse lie distinct Taint Lines, each representing a unique connection to the ancient Fey Lords. These Taint Lines, bearing names echoing their enigmatic influence, bestow varied fey-touched abilities upon those afflicted by their distinctive embrace. The Taint Line an individual is aligned with is determined by the nature of their initial encounter with the fey-curse. While drawn to the familiar kinship of their own Taint Line, those bearing the Aurumvitae may find common cause and resonance with others of divergent affiliations. Every first ability of a Taint Line can be used out of shift.
Phantomize
A taint line entwined with the essence of Macabre Sam which those cursed draw their power from the abyssal nightmares of the fey realm. In their fey-shift form, Phantomize embodies the horror that parents tell their kids about the fey wilds. These aesthetics include a multitude of horror elements of different genres.
- They gain the ability to peer into the minds of individuals, discerning their deepest fears and vulnerabilities. Phantomize can also bring these fears to life with illusion magic as real as reality.
- [Abyssal Veil]: The Aurumvitae possess a natural aura that darkens their surroundings, appearing as if in a swirling mass of darkness as it snuffs out all sources of light within 5 blocks of the Aurumvitae.
Revelance
Revelance ensnares individuals in an intoxicating whirlwind of debauchery and depravity. Those tainted by this Taint Line revel in indulgence, always hosting the largest parties that have mountains of food and large selection of teas. Their Fey-shift appears as alluring figures draped in shifting shadows, with spectral tendrils embracing their forms. Their eyes radiate a bewitching glow, and their every movement seems like a sensuous dance that ensnares the senses of those who dare to witness it. Their taint lines manifest as an ever-moving pattern on their skin of a shimmering, vibrant pink.
- They possess the ability to create illusions of enticing fantasies, drawing individuals into vivid dreamscapes that temporarily distract and entice.
- [Alluring Enchant]: Revelance gains the ability to charm enemies, granting the charmed disadvantage to hit them for three turns. This ability resets daily. Additionally, in the magnate system, they appear more amicably to NPC’s, within the reason of the DM.
Mischivra
Mischivra marks individuals with an inclination for playful antics and unpredictable mischief. Those touched by this Taint Line exude a mischievous charm and an impulsive nature. Their fey-shift manifests as playful sparks, shimmering auras, and occasional levitating objects around their form. Proficient in causing minor disturbances and playful pranks, they excel in creating diversions and confusion.
- They can playfully enchant objects in their fey-shift form, causing them to behave unexpectedly. Chairs might scoot away when sat upon, doors creak open on their own, and harmless objects might briefly adopt a life of their own, all in the spirit of gleeful chaos.
- [Mirthful Disappearance]: Mischivra Aurumvitae can perform a mirthful escape. This ability allows them to relocate to a point within 10 blocks, leaving behind their calling card. This ability resets daily.
Shardance
In the quiet realms where chaos whispers, the Shardance curse finds its origin in the shattered remnants of the Uncherished One, a Fey Lord cast into fragments by its kin for crimes veiled in mystery. Those touched by the Shardance bear fragments of this renegade Fey within them.
- They constantly produce whispers in the language of the fey around them, normally quiet with memories or thoughts of the fragmented fey. They become more coherent around the fragments assisting them by telling the Shardance secrets.
- [Resonant Echo]: Shardance imbues their weapon with the Uncherished One’s power, allowing them to upgrade their weapon by adding +2 to any damage roll for two attacks. This lasts for one combat encounter and resets daily.
Infection
The Aurumvitae curse differs significantly in its method of transmission compared to other supernatural afflictions. To impart the Aurumvitae curse onto another individual, the Aurumvitae in their Feyshift initiates a Fey Bargain Ritual upon a restrained or willing target. Beginning with their eyes aglow with an otherworldly, iridescent light lock onto the chosen target's. This gaze is hypnotic, making them relaxed and calm for the process. Their claws extend towards the target, etching intricate patterns upon the prey's skin. These patterns are not merely physical wounds but act as conduits for the exchange of essence between the two from these patterns, the victim’s life essence leaks from the pattern. The Aurumvitae pull the essence forth with their claws and allow it to pour into the Aurum’s face as their eyes, nose, and pores receive it.
When the feeding is complete, the Aurumvitae step back from the victim which leaves them largely unharmed physically aside from the mark on their chest. However, they are subtly changed by the experience of losing their essence in the fey magical exchange, manifesting as hallucinations of fey creatures or dreams of Fey Wilds.
Another way, one can be infected with the curse is by an Aurumvitae in their Feyshift that performs a ritual which they share certain experiences through a connection. The ritual known as "Feybonding" commences when the Aurumvitae in their transformed state forms a connection to start a dream sequence for the soon-to-be infected. Within this connected state, the Aurumvitae and the target share a surreal, lucid experience that unfolds over an entire night in real-time (lasting 15 minutes IRL but can be time skipped). During this shared dreamscape, the Aurumvitae impart memories, emotions, and glimpses of their fey accursed nature, intertwining their essence with the recipient's consciousness.
The individual infected with Aurumvitae will notice distinct changes over the subsequent 24 hours:
- The recipient experiences vivid dreams and ethereal visions, blurring the lines between reality and the Feywild.
- The recipient gains heightened sensory perceptions, experiencing sensations and colors more vividly than before as if perceiving the world through a prism of heightened sensitivity.
The infected person feels an intense emotional upheaval, ranging from euphoric highs to moments of deep melancholy, echoing the fluctuating emotional spectrum of the fey.
- The infected become marked with the taint line that infected them, what these marks resemble is explained above.
- They often experience fleeting moments of ethereal glimpses into the Fey realm, manifesting as ephemeral visions, enchanting reveries, or brief interactions with otherworldly entities. These experiences blur the boundaries between reality and the mystical, leaving them yearning for the elusive wonders they have briefly encountered.
- Finally, their eyes shift to the color of gold as they fully transition into their new state of being.
Mental Change
Upon complete infection, the Aurumvitae undergo a series of notable mental alterations akin to their Fey-tainted nature. These transformations encompass a range of distinctive behavioral shifts and emotional states:
- Aurumvitae exhibits an inherent aversion and heightened hostility toward creatures perceived as defying the natural harmony of the Fey, particularly the Werewolves and Vampires of Pannotia. Displayed typically as an instinctual antagonism towards these curses. They also gain a aversion to being cured, most people seeing them as a curse while they see themselves as being blessed.
- Most Aurumvitae develop an obsessive fixation, engrossing themselves in certain subjects
- Cursed individuals exhibit a kaleidoscope of emotions, fluctuating from intense euphoria to profound melancholy, mirroring the fickle nature of the fey. These emotional swings often result in unpredictable behavior, making them seem whimsical or mercurial to those around them.
- Aurumvitae cursed individuals demonstrate heightened empathy and sensitivity to the emotional currents of others, attuning themselves to subtle shifts in mood or energy. This intuitive sense of emotional resonance often fosters deep connections but can also render them vulnerable to emotional turmoil that can proc.
Physical Change
The physical changes exhibited by Aurumvitae extend across multiple phases, each revealing distinctive changes and adaptive characteristics that define their existence in varying states.
Un-Transformed
When not in their transformation, individuals infected as Aurumvitae experience subtle yet perceptible alterations.
- The new Aurumvitae gains a pair of golden eyes and black sclera that subtly glow and glimmer in the dark.
- Aurumvitae are able to hide their eyes and have them appear similar to their before infection eyes.
- The cursed individual gains a faint aura on their skin, a faint iridescence under certain lighting conditions, and translucent veins that shimmer underneath their skin
- The cursed individual, regardless of race, gender, or the like, will have their ears become more pointed and their facial structure gain a sharper edge.
- The Aurumvitae gain various patterns reminiscent of their taint line across the skin that faintly glow on their body:
- Relevance normally has their mark known as the Elicer around their sternum. It resembles sinuous lines centered around a heart-like shape. The Elicer shifts from deep purple to pink in color
- Mischivra’s mark is known as a Mallum which is typically found on the back of their hand as playful symbols like spades, hearts, or half circles with chaotic swirls in sparkling gold shifting to glittery green
- Phantomize’s mark is known as a Somnia which manifests as three wisp-like objects with tails that converged into an eye that mystically moved when gazed at. This mark appears on their leg with the eye on their ankle in shades of dark indigo to black.
- Shardance’s mark is known as a Fragman manifests as a crystalline mark implanted into their skin like bits of The Uncherished One themselves on the back of the cursed in the color of iridescent purple.
- Aurumvitae have an elusive quality to their appearance, where they might appear differently to different people. Usually, these are minor differences, such as one seeing them with blue hair and others with red or dressed differently. (Not a disguise)
The Transformation Itself
The transformation into a Feyshift, resonating with the enchanting essence of the fey, is an enchantingly fantastical metamorphosis. This evolution into their taint line typically occurs in response to emotions, triggered by external magical events, or at will by experienced Aurums who've learned to harness their curse.
- As the transformation unfolds, the Aurumvitae experience a subtle yet intense influx of magical energy coursing through their veins. This energy spills from their stomach as it rotates around the Aurum’s form.
- Their physical form begins to shimmer with an iridescent glow as if being enveloped by a veil of ethereal light.
- As the Feyshift nears its conclusion, the Aurumvitae find themselves in a state of heightened awareness, their senses sharpening to perceive the mystical energies around them. They may feel an attunement to the whispers of nature and a deep-seated understanding of the interconnectedness between the Feywild and the mortal realm.
Feyshift Form
As Aurumvitae transitions into their Feyshift form, they undergo a profound and mesmerizing transformation that bridges the gap between the mundane and the mystical realms. In this heightened state, Aurumvitae individuals exude an otherworldly, chaotic beauty, reflecting the essence of the Feywild. (If you need clarification on the design of your form, make a ticket.)
- In their Feyshift form, All Aurums are horrific creatures from nightmares. Each Taint line shares a different appearance to their Feyshift than the others.
- Revalance’s Feyshift shift is a monstrous version of beauty trends, such as but not limited to Pallor, thin limbs, beetle wing eyelashes, etc. Their mark expands to their abdomen from their sternum.
- Mischivra being tricksters like their fey lord inspiring their shift. Their shifts hat combine comedic themes with an unsettling monstrosity, some characteristics they could manifest are porcelain skins with patches of chaotic colors, a Cheshire cat grin, floating accessories, elastic limbs, etc.
- Phantomize are the true horrors of the Aurum, embodying the fear-inspiring nature of Macabre Sam. They are horrific monsters using body horror or other kinds of monstrous aesthetics from conjoined limbs, hanging jaw, distorted symmetry, etc
- Shardance’s shift is a crystalline monster made from fragments of Therlain. Accursed monsters that exist as tiny pieces of Therlain connecting to the Shardance. The shifts can manifest crystal protrusions, geode cavities, fragmented body parts, etc
Aurumfilis
The descendants of the Aurumvitae are born from the union of Aurumvitae and a mortal, often referred to as the Aurumfili or Goldenkin inherit a unique blend of traits from their cursed parentage that imbues them with both blessings and burdens that set them apart from ordinary people and their parentage. They’re not born Aurumvitae but they do have certain calling to it as if they need their parent’s curse to reach their full potential in the world. These children are distinguished from their parentage by only having one golden eye and instead of iridescence on their skin, their veins shimmer gold through their skin that have become a symbol of many Aurumfilis.
From a young age, Aurumfilis exhibit a natural affinity for the arcane and often display innate magical talents. Their abilities may vary widely but all Goldenkin share a deep connection to the mystical energies coursing through their veins and find themselves picking up the mystic arts fairly quickly like one born with the innate spark of such. Most find themselves partaking in the Mystic Arts of Chaos Weaving or Gladewalking though there exist Aurumfilis to the other arts.
As they grow older, the golden veins of Aurumfilis become more pronounced, weaving intricate patterns across their skin like shimmering tattoos. These patterns are unique to each individual, reflecting their personal connection to their heritage and serving as a source of pride among their affliction if their veins extend all the way up their arm to their shoulder. Though the true sense of pride is when these veins extend to their neck region as it is believed that they are at their full potential.
Despite their affinity for magic, Aurumfilis often face prejudice and discrimination from those who fear their otherworldly heritage. Some view them as harbingers of chaos and misfortune, while others see them as valuable assets to be exploited for their mystical talents. As a result, many Goldenkin learn to conceal their true nature, hiding their golden veins beneath layers of clothing or magical glamours to avoid persecution.
Nevertheless, the bond between Aurumfilis remains strong and they often form tight-knit communities where they can share their experiences and support one another. Through mutual understanding and solidarity, Goldenkin find strength in their shared heritage, embracing their unique gifts and defying those who would seek to oppress and use them.
Curing
To cure an individual of the curse successfully, one must first determine what stage of the infection the affected person is at. For example, suppose they were fed on by an accursed within the last 24 hours. In this case, it’s a much easier and vastly less exhaustive procedure than if the infection has already taken root in the individual.
Pre-Full Infection
When an individual has been exposed to the Aurumvitae but has not yet succumbed to its full effects, a preventative remedy involves the use of a specially crafted crystal infusion. Crystals known for their affinity to counteract fey magic are employed to create a potent elixir.
A skilled alchemist with at least one point invested in Medicine make use of a mixture consisting of moonstone powder, selenite essence, and black tourmaline shards. These components are ground up and combined with purified water and the Aurumvitae’s blood under the sun's gentle light, allowing the crystals to absorb the solar energy. The resulting elixir is then consumed by the person at risk of full infection. The infusion acts as a shield, disrupting the initial stages of the Fae curse while preventing it from fully taking hold. Individuals who ingest this crystal infusion may experience a brief sensation of warmth as the crystals harmonize with their bodies, signifying the protective barrier forming within. The curse tries to resist by overheating the body to force the infusion out.
Post-Full Infection
Once the Fae curse has fully taken hold, a more intense cure involving a ritual called the Crystum Rite is required. This procedure demands a skilled practitioner and a selection of crystals. The infected individual must be placed within a protective circle laid with crystals to absorb the ramp
Medical professionals who have one point invested into Medicine know the relevant technique to dispel the infection from the body of the patient. The treatment includes embedding pure iron needles into specific points on the patient's body. These needles act as conduits, dispelling the corrupted Fae energy while emitting a harmonizing resonance.
The embedded patient is then subjected to a controlled exposure of pure sunlight, which catalyzes the crystals' purification process. The crystals glow with an intense brilliance as they channel the sun’s energy to cleanse the afflicted individual. This ritual must be performed during hours of sunrise to maximize its effectiveness.
As the purification progresses, the patient will undergo a feverish state, during which the crystals extract and neutralize the curse. The cure is deemed successful once the fever breaks and the patient's skin takes on a radiant, crystal-infused sheen. The individual should be provided with ample rest, nourishment, and monitored for any lingering effects to ensure a full recovery.
Culture
Aurum celebrates their connection to the Feywild through elaborate gatherings and rituals tied to celestial events and lunar cycles. The "Noctilucent Festivals" mark significant moments in the Aurum calendar, aligning with the solstices and equinoxes. During these festivals, the Courts revel in the magical energies that surge through the Feywild.
Gift-giving is common among Aurum, with intricate jewelry and enchanted baubles serving as tokens of respect and loyalty. Strings of moonstone beads, ethereal glass trinkets, and floral adornments are cherished gifts exchanged within Courts. The more embellished and intricate the jewelry, the higher the status and wealth of the Court.
Aurum interactions with other supernatural beings vary, but they maintain a cautious distance from vampires and werewolves alike. The deep-seated enmity arises from the conflicting nature of their curses and a shared history of animosity. Aurum Courts will unite against common vampiric and lycan threats, the disdain between the three supernatural entities runs so deep that even former friends may become bitter enemies once afflicted.
Aurum while diverse in their Courts are united by their intrinsic ties to the Feywild and a shared commitment to preserving their existence's ethereal beauty and unpredictable nature. Each Court is a microcosm of Fey enchantment, weaving intricate tales of magic, aesthetics, and order within chaos.
Hierarchy
At the pinnacle of this hierarchy stands the Caputex, the Head of the Court, who holds ultimate authority and decision-making power. They serve as the spiritual and temporal leader of the Court, shouldering the weighty responsibility of guiding and safeguarding the Aurum. Caputex serves as the primary mediator in disputes. They are also responsible for representing the Court in diplomatic matters, forging alliances, and negotiating treaties with other supernatural entities. The Caputex plays a vital role in upholding the traditions and values of the Aurum, preserving its cultural heritage, and ensuring its continuity for future generations.
Assisting the Caputex are two individuals known as the Sinistrum and the Dextrum, the Left Hand and Right Hand of the Head, respectively. These positions act as the chief advisors and envoys of the Caputex, providing counsel and executing their directives with unwavering loyalty. The Sinistrum and Dextrum are second only to the Caputex in authority, embodying the balance and harmony of the Court's leadership.
The Sinistrum acts as the militaristic hand of the Caputex, bearing the responsibility of safeguarding the Court and its interests through strength and vigilance. Their duties include training and leading the Court's enforcers, overseeing the defense of the Court's territories, and executor of the Caputex's will, enforcing their directives, and maintaining discipline within the Court's ranks. They are often the first line of defense against external threats, standing ready to confront any challenges that may arise with courage and determination.
The Dextrum serves as the diplomatic hand of the Caputex tasked with managing the Court's external relations and interactions with other supernatural beings. Their duties revolve around negotiation, mediation when the Caputex is not around, seeking to establish and maintain alliances, treaties, and trade agreements beneficial to the Court. The Dextrum represents the Court in diplomatic negotiations, employing tact, persuasion, and charm to achieve favorable outcomes. The Dextrum serves as the Court's ambassador to the mortal world, liaising with human authorities, diplomats, and organizations to ensure peaceful coexistence.
The Tabularius oversees the management of records, documents, and archives essential to the Court's operations. Their duties include maintaining detailed accounts of the Court's assets, resources, and expenditures. The Tabularius keeps meticulous records of membership rosters, lineage histories, and legal documents, preserving the Court's heritage and upholding its traditions. They handle correspondence and communications, managing incoming and outgoing messages with efficiency and confidentiality. Additionally, the Tabularius assists in the organization of Court meetings, gatherings, and ceremonies while transcribing the information and events for future reference.
The Praetorii form the vigilant arms of the Court, tasked with upholding its laws, enforcing discipline, and ensuring the security of its members and territories. Their duties encompass maintaining order within the Court's ranks, resolving disputes, and distributing justice according to the Court's established principles. Praetorii are skilled in combat, espionage, and surveillance, adept at tracking threats, investigating incidents, and neutralizing those aforementioned threats. They patrol the Court's domains, safeguarding against external threats and internal dissent, and act as the first line of defense against incursions or infiltrations. Additionally, Praetorii are responsible for training recruits, honing their combat skills, and indoctrinating them into the Court's ethos and code of conduct managed by the Sinistrum.
At the bottom of the totem pole, the Plebeii comprising of the regular members who don’t have the above positions form the backbone of its collective strength and vitality. Their duties revolve around contributing to the Court's various endeavors, supporting its infrastructure, and fulfilling the needs of its community. Plebeii engage in a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, from mundane chores to specialized roles, depending on their skills, interests, and capabilities. They participate in the Court's daily operations, assist in resource gathering, maintenance of Court facilities, and provision of essential services.
As a final note, the roles outlined above represent the core structure of the Court, larger Courts may encompass additional positions and responsibilities tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. These additional roles could include specialists in various fields such as magic, diplomacy, espionage, and administration, among others. However, the Head of the Court, the Left Hand, the Right Hand, the Bookkeeper, the Enforcers/Hunters, and the Regular Members typically form the standard composition of most Courts. These positions ensure the Court's functionality, governance, and security, providing a solid framework upon which its operations and interactions are built. While the dynamics within each Court may vary, these fundamental roles remain integral to its functioning and serve as the cornerstone of its collective endeavors.
Expulsion from the Court is a rare but grave punishment, reserved for those who betray its trust or endanger its members. However, it is not necessarily permanent; those expelled may seek redemption and reintegration into the Court. This process is arduous and requires a demonstration of genuine remorse and a willingness to abide by the Court's laws and customs once more. If successful, the exiled individual may be welcomed back into the Court, albeit with a newfound appreciation for its values and a deeper understanding of the consequences of their actions.
History
The Aurum, born of the ancient elven realms within the continent of Ellawren, trace their enigmatic origins to a tumultuous event that unfolded in the ethereal groves of Westling Woods. The tale veiled in the delicate fabric of Nephi folklore, recounts a time when the Nephi, custodians of Ellawren's natural heart found themselves embroiled in an unforeseen conflict.
Macabre Sam is at the heart of this narrative, a Fey lord known for worming its way into the mortal’s minds. They had the insatiable ambition to turn Auld’s most respected custodians into his minions and sought dominion over the sacred Nephi groves. Displeased with the guardianship of the Gladewalkers, Sam harbored a deep-seated resentment against Auld Mossbrow and all that he represented as an incarnate of nature.
In a treacherous bid to usurp Auld Mossbrow's influence over a grove, Macabre Sam delved into the minds of a Nephi, weaving a power to turn them on his side. The focal point of his ire became a singular Nephi, chosen by the whims of fate – a figure whose destiny would intertwine with the birth of the Aurum. This Nephi, known only as the Whis Zephyr, was entangled in Sam's dark machinations as she was the leader of a particular grove in the Westling Woods.
Auld Mossbrow sensed the impending threat to Ellawren's delicate equilibrium and intervened to thwart Sam's ambitions. The confrontation between the ancient Nephi and the malevolent fey lord echoed through the mystical groves, Nature Incarnate freed the Nephi leader from
In the throes of the magical clash, Macabre Sam unleashed the curse placed within Whis Zephyr, a curse that transcended mere affliction and delved into the realm of transformation. Whis Zephyr, once a guardian of nature's sanctity, became the vessel for a new breed of beings – the Aurum. Infused with the chaos of the Feywild, the Aurum emerged as elusive creatures that embodied the coalescence of magic and primal instincts.
Macabre Sam recognized the power of the Aurum sought to guide and temper their existence to allow them a stronger pull from the Fey Wilds. To stimulate this, he bestowed upon the Aurum the gift of fey magic, enabling them to harness the energies of the Feywild and the essence of his power as well. The Aurum are forever bound to Pannotia’s mystical heart, embracing their newfound identity.
As Whisp Zephyr assumed the mantle of the first Monarch of the Aurum, the first of the courts was established, the ones coming after Zephyr’s court would slowly pop up. These Aurum Courts soon became the custodians of Feywild's magical essence and the extension of the Fey lord.
However, the Aurum's relationship with the outside world remained fraught with tension, particularly concerning the Lycanthropy and Vampiric Curse. The ancient animosity between these entities, rooted in the complex dynamics of the accursed ecosystem persisted through the ages, shaping the Aurum's perception of their cursed counterparts.
As the Aurum continued their existence as guardians of the Feywild, the legacy of the Whispering Zephyr endured in the ongoing tale of the Aurum and a goal for many Aurums.
