Spellbinders are known for crafting magic spells, and preserving arcane knowledge all across Pannotia.

Overview

The academics of the magical world, Spellbinders participate and lead in the study of the craft of spell-making. They studiously catalogue magical knowledge and the art of spellcraft. Spellbinders have the distinct ability to tease out the required magical words to solidify spells. Their magic supports the spellbinder’s goals of preserving and protecting magical knowledge. The first known spellbinder went by the name of Louisa Pearson, who was responsible for extensive work on early technomancy spells. While earlier spellbinders have been lost to the dark ages of history, their collaborative nature remains with the existence of mage covens and the regular meetings between magical schools. Spellbinders can usually be found organizing their local mages into working groups, or working with academic institutions to assist in the preservation of knowledge.


Spells

Tier One Spells

Off the Page Spellbinders can cause ink collected in written work to temporarily leap off the page and toward an enemy. The Caster makes a MYS vs SCR attack roll to splatter ink across the target’s face for 2 turns, rendering them Blind for the duration. Once the duration is ended, the ink retreats back to the chosen work, restoring the page. Once per Combat Action
Runic Mastery Summoning these runes to lash out toward their foes, they may send three arcane strikes toward up to three targets, making a MYS attack roll for each one. Each hit deals 1d4 damage. No Cooldown Action
Library Nook Each Spellbinder has access to a single pocket dimension, a sprawling library that transforms and shifts every second. However, they have gained a single corner, able to store any items of their choosing as long as it can reasonably be set through the size of a book. This includes weaponry, money, alchemy, and anything else reasonable. No one else may access the Caster’s Nook. Passive N/A
Tier Two Spells

Final Draft Always perfecting their spells even in the field, the Spellbinder fine-tunes their most powerful abilities. Every time the Spellbinder succeeds in a MYS attack roll, they gain +1 Revision. All Revisions may be consumed to enhance a spellcast, granting +1 to the attack roll for each Revision. Passive N/A
Nom de Plume This spell is used to identify the author of a written document. To cast this spell, the caster needs to hold the physical document and a blank strip of paper. Once cast, the spell reveals the name of the author on the strip of paper. Once the name is revealed, the strip of paper will last for three emotes before burning away. Once per Week Action
Lost in a Book With their mastery of runes, the Spellbinder summons a series of binding sigils that briefly freeze an enemy’s motion. The Spellbinder must make a MYS vs SCR attack roll to Daze and Restrain the enemy. So long as they maintain Concentration, they may repeat this attack roll at the start of each enemy’s turn. Once per Combat Action
Tier Three Spells

A Thousand Cuts The Spellbinder summons forth a rising storm of runes, which can be slung at another character to encircle them. This can be used for one of two effects:
  • The caster may make a MYS attack roll to deal 2d8 damage, dealing 1d8 instead on a failure.
  • The caster may mimic any Spell from the target, casting it immediately. If it requires additional Talents, it casts with the target’s level of investment.
Once per Week Action
The Magic Word: With mastery of the art of runeworking, Spelbinders can create entirely new spells with the collaboration of another Mage. This requires submission via Ticket with the goals, the desired function, and the approved character applications of both Mages involved.

Additionally, Tier 3 Spellbinders may teach one another spells created in this fashion, and can swap between known Magic Word spells once per week.

Passive N/A
Potentia’s Portal Tearing their grimoire apart to summon a magical gateway through the Library Nook, the Spellbinder can place two portals anywhere within a 15 block range, even through solid obstacles. Any character stepping into one portal immediately blinks to the other, costing no movement. These portals last for 2 turns, and only those the Spellbinder allows may use them. Outside of combat, this ability can be used with a range spanning the entire city, but requires one full emote of casting before entering the portals and cannot be used to break into secure locations. If the caster is interrupted, the spell goes on cooldown immediately. Once per Combat Action
