Forged in the shadow of war and born from the minds of Galudon’s finest engineers, the Honored Brothers stand as paragons of mechanical resilience. Built to endure and protect, these towering automatons were designed to hold the line when all else breaks.

History

Within the Cathedral of the Church of the Iron Head, Alistair and a group of Iron Head Scribes embarked on the creation of schematics for an automaton, built in anticipation of the impending Galudon war. Their combined efforts - led by Alistair Churchthorn, Ser'varyn Enris, and Alexandre Silva - were a testament to the power of teamwork. Their goal was to create a bulwark-style tanking automaton, a significant addition to Galudon’s defensive and siege combat capabilities. Standing approximately 12 feet tall and equally wide, this automaton was designed to endure relentless fire and deliver devastating blows, either with the sheer force of its arms or with a large mace-like weapon. The hulking automaton, known as the Honored Brothers, was constructed after the designs were finalized. In a factory owned by Alistair Churchthorn, the team of engineers began assembling each part of the machine, focusing on how it would function in times of war.

They ensured the automaton would recognize specific individuals and entities - such as Alistair Churchthorn, Alexandre Silva, and Ser'varyn Enris - as well as Galudonian government officials, the military, and members of the Royal House. For others outside the circle of engineers who designed this technology, the automaton is programmed to identify authorized personnel through their uniforms, insignia, and a set of activation codes. This recognition system was developed to prevent unauthorized use and ensure the automaton only responds to legitimate commands.

Construction

The construction of the arms and legs follows the same principles. Each limb includes shoulder, elbow, and knee joints built with rotational hinges and hydraulic actuators. The hands are equipped with mechanically articulated fingers. The torso serves as the power source. A compressed boiler forms the core of the torso, with a chimney-like exhaust extending from its back. While the torso is protected by metal plating, once it is pierced or compromised, the automaton will rapidly lose power and cease functioning until repaired.

If undamaged, the automaton can operate for approximately five hours before requiring a fuel refill by an engineer-soldier. A maintenance hatch near the back of the torso can be opened with a wrench, granting access to the boiler and internal components. The waist contains the circuitry responsible for turning and transmitting power to the legs. The head, designed to be stocky and wide, features two optics that serve both practical and functional purposes.

The assembly process proceeds as follows:

  1. The legs are connected to the waist.
  2. The waist is connected to the torso.
  3. The arms are attached.
  4. The head is mounted atop the torso.
  5. Each component is securely bolted in place. The boiler is then accessed from the back to add fuel and activate the automaton.

Application

The Honored Brothers are primarily deployed in frontline assaults, siege warfare, and defensive strongholds against enemy forces. Programmed to recognize and protect Galudonian soldiers, these automatons serve as loyal defenders and powerful frontline units capable of holding the line against overwhelming force.
