Paladin Armor MK1 - Atlas
History
After witnessing the ravages of war and the countless lives lost, Alistair Churchthorn found himself in the Galudon Silva Industries workshop. He delved into the concepts his former business partner had envisioned, sparking a wave of innovation. Alistair's inspiration was further fueled as he unrolled a scroll from the Church of The Iron Head, which echoed the same concept. Combining the designs of Alexandre Silva and the Iron Head, Alistair conceived a suit of armor that could give troops an advantage, a fortress that could fight, defend, and supply troops. With this vision in mind, Alistair embarked on Project Paladin. As Alistair delved into his work, he couldn't help but be intrigued by the design of a scuba suit. The robustness of the design would serve as the foundation for the armor he was about to create. With each stroke of his pencil on the blueprints, he was fashioning a larger, more heavily armored version of the original, with mechanics that would bestow unmatched strength and power upon the pilot. After weeks of painstaking work, he perfected the exoskeleton and the backpack-like boiler power supply, gathered the necessary materials, built the actual suit, and fitted it onto the pilot. When it came to weaponry, he crafted a formidable longsword that the pilot could wield, and then designed a unique shotgun pistol that the user could wield in battle. With its grand scale and awe-inspiring might, Alistair christened this creation the ‘Atlas’ Mk1, a name befitting its extraordinary qualities.
Construction
The construction of Paladin Armor MK1 - 'Atlas' is a mechanical armored suit primarily made of steel, brass, and copper. However, it also incorporates thick leather suits to provide flexibility and comfort to the wearer. The armor is inspired by an old scuba diver suit, which is 7'0 ft tall. The helm and torso are part of the same suit piece, with designs related to a deep-sea diver's helmet and a large visor made of reinforced polymer. The helm is also connected to the armor's over torso and opens up for the pilot/user to enter. The steam-powered exoskeleton goes from the torso to the arm and legs of the suit as the leg exoskeleton connects to metallic boots. The exoskeleton arms connect to iron gauntlets. The gauntlets show the level of fuel within the whole suit. The exoskeletons consist of a network of hydraulic pistons, gears, and actuators, all powered by a central boiler. This boiler, which generates steam, is the primary power source for the armor and the exoskeleton. The steam boiler and ventilation backpack are connected towards the back of the steel torso. The ventilation system ensures that excess steam is safely expelled from the armor, maintaining a safe operating temperature. The steam boiler and ventilation can power the suit for 3 hours before needing to be refilled. The weaponry that is carried is specially built for the armor. One is a melee weapon fitting for the size of the armor and fit for the pilot's proficiency, whether it be a sword, an axe, a hammer, etc. It can be stored in a unique holster near the armored backpack. Lastly, there is a weapon specially designed for the armor; a large pistol able to shoot shotgun-sized shells toward an enemy. This pistol is capable of firing six shells before requiring a reload. The gun is held on the hip, with additional shells carried on the belt.
Main Invention
This steampowered suit, primarily designed for war, stands as a bastion against enemies on the frontline of battle. With its unique design weaponry, it can hold off against foes that come the user’s way. It showcases its grand levels of strength and wrath against enemies across the battlefield. Furthermore, it can provide crucial support by lifting heavy objects and carrying large loads of objects, weaponry, machinery, and supplies to troops under fire. With the ongoing threat of Lycans within the nation, the armor can provide support and pushback to help give reassurance in the heat of battle.
Characteristics
Physical Characteristics
The armor is based on the foundation of a scuba diver suit. It has that form of aesthetic to it, with the modification designs of it being tall, armor-plated, and carrying a significant form of weaponry for the user to hold. Along the metal gauntlets is a fuel gauge, showing the amount and how much time an individual has until the suit needs to be refilled and continue to go off to battle. Brass, copper, steel, and thick leather are the only base colors of the suit. However, a painted color can be added based on the chapter or platoon the user is a part of.
Application
The primary function of this suit is to be used as a weaponized armor to fight in times of war. Outside of war, the suit is primarily purchased and used for individuals who are high-ranking in social status and need private security. Meanwhile, the Copperguard uses it for high-level threats, such as illegal curse races (mainly Lycan).
