History

The Steamweaver, a marvel of steampunk engineering, was designed by the renowned and eclectic inventor Isaiah ‘Craft’ Etherington. Isaiah, a pioneer in combining artistry with functionality, created the first Steamweaver prototype from scraps found in Rattletrap to safeguard his little home with precision and style. Drawing inspiration from the delicate yet formidable structure of spiders, his invention quickly became a symbol of innovation in the community. His meticulous attention to detail and dedication to integrating intricate clockwork mechanisms into practical applications resulted in the creation of the Steamweaver, a device that not only serves as a protector but also as a masterpiece of aesthetic design.

Appearance

The Steamweaver is built with intricate clockwork mechanisms that allow it to set up traps and scale walls with ease. It boasts an array of gears and steam-powered mechanisms that enable the Trapmaster to swiftly deploy traps in strategic locations. Crafted from sturdy brass, it combines durability with aesthetic appeal.

In order to allow adhesion to all surfaces, including walls and even ceilings, the Steamweaver is equipped with micromechanical setal structures on the tips of its ‘feet’. These micromechanical setae, mimicking the tiny hairs on a spider's feet, are designed using advanced micro-engineering techniques, allowing for a combination of small hooks and suction cups at the ends to increase adhesion to most surfaces.

Meanwhile, the Steamweaver's abdomen is constructed to house a spool of wire, integral to its trap-setting function. Crafted from polished brass, the abdomen features a compartment that securely holds the wire spool, allowing for easy reloading and seamless deployment of traps. This compartment is designed with a small hatch for quick and easy access.

The thorax of the Steamweaver is equipped with an inbuilt alarm system, activated when a tripwire is triggered. This steam-powered alarm consists of a miniature whistle and a set of tiny, intricately designed gears that produce a distinctive sound, alerting the owner to any intrusion. The alarm mechanism is concealed within the thorax, maintaining the device's sleek, spider-like appearance while providing an effective security feature.

Uses and Capabilities

Resembling a spider, the Steamweaver features an intricate design adorned with detailed craftsmanship. Its brass construction not only provides robustness but also enhances its visual appeal, making it a masterpiece of steampunk aesthetic design.

The Steamweaver's agile legs allow it to traverse various surfaces, including walls and ceilings, making it an ideal guardian for any environment. Its primary function is to deter intruders or capture prey by deploying traps. To operate the Steamweaver, one must charge it with a coil of wire. Once charged, a button on the underside of its body activates the clockwork item, initiating its deployment.

Application

The Steamweaver is perfect for protecting your home or securing valuable assets. Its design allows it to set up tripwires and other classic traps in hard-to-reach places such as windows and clocks, effectively deterring trespassers by making loud alarm-like noises when tripped. Additionally, it can be used to set up ambushes. Despite its advanced capabilities, the Steamweaver does not come with any explosives or dangerous substances other than coils of wire used for setting traps, and an inbuilt alarm
