Coming up with a core concept
Think about the kind of character you'd enjoy playing in the world of Pannotia. Consider these initial questions:
*What kind of roleplay draws you in? Are you interested in political intrigue, slice of life, scholarly roleplay, the criminal underground?
*What kind of role do you envision your character filling in the scene you prefer? Are they a cunning merchant, a brave warrior, a wise scholar, a mischievous rogue, a powerful mage, a predatory vampire?
*Are there any particular races that interest you? Any curses or magic schools that stand out at a glance?

Point Allocation
Creating a Character Application
Allocation Rules
Our community uses a character application sheet to help you flesh out your character and provide us with the necessary information. You can find the template for this in the #character-application-template channel on our Discord server. Open the template, press file, and select make a copy to create your own sheet, ready to go!
There are two rules dictate how many points you can spend, and when they max out:
As you go through the following steps, you'll gradually fill out this application with details about your character.
* Every Character, regardless of anything, has exactly 8 points to spend between the Talents listed under 'Talent's List'.
* Every Talent can only have up to 3 points invested in any of them. But you can only have a maximum of one level 3 Talent.
* To learn how to show allocation, Look at the Character Application templates in the discord

Ability Totals
Origin, Name, and Appearance
Every Character, no matter their Race, age, or creed, has the same amount of Talent Points to spend: 8 Talent Points that they can allocate to any Talent Subcategory.
With your concept forming and your application ready to be filled, it's time to start pinning down some of the more foundational, concrete details.
At a baseline, every character starts with the following Ability Totals:

*Constitution:- 15
Race: Based on your concept, which of the available races feels like the best fit for your character? Which ones interest you the most? While the races each have their own page, a simple summary of each is below:
*Strength:- 6
*Humans: Adaptable and fractious, found throughout Galudon and mainland Aesox.
*Dexterity:- 6
*Dwarves: Honest, resilient, and long-lived, the Dwarves are a belligerent but steadfast people.
*Scrutiny:- 6
*Venyra: Elegant high elves with a strong affinity for magic and hextech, primarily from the western land of Ellawren.
*Mystics:- 0
*Thalzar: Fierce dark elves, the warrior caste of the elven people, also from Ellawren.
*Cursed:- 0
*Nephi: Wild wood elves who live in harmony with nature in Pannotia's forests.
*Eiruks: Ingenious orcish engineers, now a free people after generations of servitude.
*Giruk: Quick-witted but small goblins, the offshoot cousins of the Eiruk.
*Nymphs: Mysterious beings born from the land itself, with diverse connections to nature.
*Infernals: Charismatic but volatile individuals who appear from ancient battlefields on distant isles.
*Ferox: Diverse animal-people with a staggering range of appearances and cultures.
*Tzchaari: Skilled bug-like artisans from a faraway island, now venturing into the wider world.

These Ability Totals increase with every Talent Point invested in a specific Talent Subcategory, so be sure to read the instructions on each of the Ability Sections and Talent Point Investment segments carefully. Each of the Ability Totals listed is capped at a maximum of 20 (Except for Constitution), meaning that even if all 8 Talent Points were invested in, say Strength, for example, the total cannot exceed 20 under the Strength Ability Total. Any Talent Point assignments that would exceed this limit cannot, unless otherwise stated in their Talent Point Modifier description. Mystics and Cursed Path have their own rules. They do not have a default Ability Total as they grant specific spells within each of their Magic Schools/Cursed Race paths. As such, these Categories are placeholders but also increase with a specific amount (As specified in their sections.) These will come into play later on in time but for now, just give DMs a general idea as to a Character’s familiarity with those subjects for dice rolls in Progressions/Newslets. Learn about the Combat System for a guide to the Galudon Combat Roleplay system
Origin: Where in the world of Pannotia did your character originate? Were they born in Ironhurst, a rural hamlet in Aesox, the Elven lands of Ellawren? Think about their race and concept both!

Talents List
Name: Choose a name that feels appropriate for their race and origin. Consider any naming conventions or cultural sounds that are common for their people.
Ability Modifiers and Talent Skills
By default, every Talent Point investment has some sort of Ability Modifier. Ability Modifiers can be additional points to place in your Ability Totals (Constitution, Strength, Dexterity, etc), additional Talent Point investments and in some cases, character skills. Character skills will be explained below with each of the Skills listed, but pertain primarily to combat. You may also be granted access to unique abilities in game, such as gaining a familiar, getting progression/newslet benefits or even unique in-game builds. When you invest Talent Points in a specific Talent Point subcategory, you gain all the benefits listed. If you invest more than one point, you gain all the perks from the previous tiers also, but you do not stack the base Ability Point boons from that Ability Category. For example, for every one point you invest in a specific Talent subcategory under Constitution, you gain +1 overall in your Constitution Ability Total. But if you invest 2 Points in a specific Talent subcategory under Constitution, you gain +3 overall in your Constitution Ability Total. For 2 Points, you only get the +3 overall Constitution Ability Total and not the +1 from the 1 Point investment. They do not stack.
Age: How old is your character?

Talents
Appearance: Fill the relevant sections with key details about your character's appearance. What do they look like? What kind of clothing do they typically wear? How tall (or short) are they?
Talents are useful for direct comparisons when Characters compete, and general skill checks, like Constitution to maintain a jog or Strength to hold a door closed. There are six talent categories:
* Strength dictates your character’s total Strength. Generally speaking, the Strength Ability total will primarily derive from your character’s martial combat prowess.
* Constitution dictates your Hit Point total. Maintaining a healthy mindset and lifestyle (by placing Talent Points into Constitution Talent Categories) increases your overall Hit Point score
* Dexterity dictates how limber your character’s body has become through practice, tutelage, and plenty of repetition.
* Scrutiny dictates how experienced your character is in perceiving the world around them and represents perceptiveness and intuition.
* Mystics the magical capabilities of characters. There are no Talents to invest in here, as they follow specific magic schools with their own tiers of spells.
* Cursed dictates all Cursed Races

Combat System
Spending Your Talent Points
How does Combat work?
Now it's time to invest in your character's capabilities! You have 8 talent points to spend across six categories: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Scrutiny, Mystic, and Cursed.
*Talents have three tiers (T1, T2, T3), with increasing benefits.
*You can only have one talent at Tier 3.
*The remaining talent points must be spent on Tier 1 or Tier 2 talents. A common distribution is 3-2-2-1.

Galudon’s Combat roleplay system revolves around four crucial factors, each playing a significant role in determining your character's performance in battle:
The talent categories and their associated attributes are:

Constitution: Represents your hit points, determining your resilience in battle.<br>
*Constitution: Governs talents that enhance resilience and heartiness. Your base Constitution attribute is 15.
Strength: Reflects your prowess in delivering attacks during combat.<br>
**T1 Talent: +1 Constitution
Dexterity: Measures your agility and ability to dodge incoming attacks.<br>
**T2 Talent: +3 Constitution
Scrutiny: Measures your quick wit and initiative order.<br>
**T3 Talent: +5 Constitution

In any combat scene, Roll Strength ability total to hit, and Dexterity to dodge. The highest roll prevails. You have the freedom to flavour these rolls according to your character's unique abilities as long as the essence of the game remains intact.
*Strength: Governs weapon talents focused on power and might. Your base Strength attribute is 6.
**T1 Talent: +1 Strength
**T2 Talent: +3 Strength
**T3 Talent: +5 Strength

When a player hits 0 HP, they are incapacitated and require healing. While a killing blow can be dealt, it's not mandatory. If your character dies, there's no need to worry! Revival is possible within the game's Revival Mechanics, providing a safety net and allowing players to focus on the thrill of combat rather than the dread of permanently losing a character.
*Dexterity: Governs talents related to stealth, agility, and precision. Your base Dexterity attribute is 6.
**T1 Talent: +1 Dexterity
**T2 Talent: +3 Dexterity
**T3 Talent: +5 Dexterity

Advantage vs Disadvantage
*Scrutiny: Governs intellectual talents, such as knowledge and perception. Your base Scrutiny attribute is 6.
**T1 Talent: +1 Scrutiny
**T2 Talent: +3 Scrutiny
**T3 Talent: +5 Scrutiny

Now, let's discuss a crucial part of increasing your chances of succeeding in our CRP system: Advantage and Disadvantage. Influenced by Talent Point Investments and Skills, these modifiers can turn the tide of battle in your favour or against you.
*Mystic: Represents your grasp of a chosen magic school. Your base Mystic attribute is 0.
**T1 Talent: +5 Mystic
**T2 Talent: +9 Mystic
**T3 Talent: +14 Mystic

* Disadvantage: Players incur a disadvantage in various ways, either using weapons and skills they aren’t proficient in or being under the effects of an ability or spell. This requires rolling two Ability Total rolls, using the lower of the two results.
*Cursed: For characters marked by a cursed affliction. These talents are only available at Tier 3. Your base Curse attribute is 0.
*
**T3 Talent: +20 Curse
* Advantage: Advantage provides a boon to characters with certain Talent Point investments or Skills. In this case, players roll two Ability Total rolls, selecting the higher result for their attack.
*
* Opportunity Attack: An attack of opportunity occurs when an opponent seizes the opportunity to strike with advantage. This reaction triggers if a player moves 2 blocks away from their opponent within their turn. Essentially, the opponent can attack with advantage, meaning they have a better chance of hitting their target.

Movement
Carefully consider how you want to build your character and allocate your talent points accordingly. Think about what skills and abilities would suit their personality and backstory.
* Disengage Action: Players must take a disengage action to utilise their full movement potential and leave combat. When a character attempts to disengage, they must roll their Dexterity against the Dexterity of opponents within range. Failing this check allows the opponent to launch a free out-of-turn attack against the fleeing character, with Advantage, if the attacker's Dexterity roll exceeds that of the fleeing character. When a player intends to move more than 15 blocks away from their opponent, they must roll disengage or return to their previous spot.

Evasion Points
Bonuses: Many talents also provide extra bonuses, such as free points in other talents (remember, these bonus points cannot be used to take an additional Tier 3 talent!), active skills, or extra attribute points. Be sure to note these down in your application.
*Bonuses such as the +4 Dexterity bonus from using a Finesse weapon are not counted when determining Evasion Points (EP).
*For every 2 points of Dexterity above 6, the player gains 1 additional Evasion Point (EP).
Using Evasion Points
*By spending 1 EP on your turn, you can successfully evade an opponent's attack.
*EP can also be spent to disengage from combat. For every opponent within opportunity attack range (2 Blocks), spend 1 EP to disengage without a roll.
*EP is fully recovered at the end of a combat scene.

Initiative
For those interested in the intricacies of combat, you can find a detailed explanation on our Combat System page.
The initiative system in Galudon's combat ensures a fair and dynamic combat environment where every player's action is meaningful and contributes to the flow of the game. At the outset of combat, all players roll their Scrutiny Ability Total to determine the initial attack order.
While discussion is strongly encouraged before killing another character, permission is not required. But don't fret! Should your character meet an untimely end, our community offers a system for Character Revivals, ensuring death is not the end. More information on this can be found on the page.
* Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie, the tied players roll initiative again to resolve the deadlock and determine the precise sequence of combat actions.

Magic/Range
Record your chosen talents and any associated attribute increases, skills, and bonuses in your character application! Be sure to specify where your points, both talent and attribute, come from as in the template.
* Standard Range: By default, all ranged and magical attacks have a maximum range of 15 blocks (emote range). Exceptions may exist based on specific Talents or Skills detailed in the system.

Skills
Finalising your Application
In some cases, Talent Point Investments may grant your character particular skills. These skills have their own mechanics and cooldowns and may be found on the Skills page.
Take a moment to review your character application thoroughly!
*Ensure that all sections are complete and that the information you've provided is consistent and reflects the character you want to play.
*Double-check your talent point allocation and any associated bonuses.
*Make sure no sections are left blank.
*Check that your username is at the top.
