==History==
The Solar Open Luminant, or S.O.L. for short, was created by young engineer Kahri Churchthorn in response to the rise of vampiric assaults and threats across the city of Ironhurst. Seemingly developed in only a few weeks, the S.O.L. utilizes the solar power of Soltech and weaponizes it into a device that would spell any vampire's end.

==Construction==
Construction of a S.O.L. is relatively simple, involving the preparation of a luminarite crystal into a protective casing, before connecting it into the main body of the device, the protected mirror chamber within the device to focus the crystal’s power. A radio antenna and signal is established within any given batch of S.O.L.s, linking them to a controller to determine how they operate once deployed.
The final component is a collapsing barrel and lamp mechanism that activates on the command of the radio controller, the act of placing the component in arming the device and readying it for action. The S.O.L. can be locked into ‘safe mode’ which prevents it from activating prematurely, by twisting this component 90 degrees clockwise, and back again to disable it.
Recharging the luminarite crystal can be done easily through twisting this component 360 degrees clockwise, releasing it from the device and allowing the crystal in its casing to be removed from the main body and prepared for re-usage.
On the surface, an S.O.L. resembles the appearance of a circular landmine. Plated with brass to protect the fragile internals of mirrors, which are thoroughly locked in place within an endoskeleton of steel. The ejectable lamp is similar to flood lights in construction, thinly caged with metal and sturdy glass to protect it from being damaged from external factors (weather, combat, etc.)

==Application==
The S.O.L. creates a localized field of effect that generates light from the solar energy stored within, replicating the effects of natural sunlight for a temporary period. Specifically against vampires, this localized field exploits their weakness against sunlight, weakening them severely and making them easier to dispatch. Light level can be manually adjusted with a dial on the side of the device, the default being sun-equivalent light.
Theoretically, larger scale S.O.L.s can be created to cover a larger area and induce a higher intensity of sunlight replication, bypassing even the most intense protection against the sun, but this remains purely speculative and would take an exorbitant amount of resources to pull off.
Alternatively, S.O.L.s can be used to replace traditional lights/lamps in dark areas, making for deployable lanterns/light posts, through reducing their intensity and extending its lifespan in turn.

==In-Game Application==
The S.O.L. illuminates an area with a radius of 5 blocks, however only the inner 2-block radius activates the vampiric ‘sunshy’ feature. As such, the device needs to be used relatively close to the target. Additionally, by releasing all of the energy stored in the luminarite crystal, the effect of the S.O.L only lasts for up to 5 emotes before the device needs to be recharged.
'''Important:''' Only on-duty Copperguard characters can deploy and set-off the S.O.L. device.
